Dosage Amount, Indications & Limitations: 522.1696a Sterile benzathine penicillin G and procaine penicillin G suspension. Specifications: Each milliliter contains 150,000 units of benzathine penicillin G and 150,000 units of procaine penicillin G in aqueous suspension. Conditions of use: Horses Amount: 2 milliliters per 150 pounds of body weight intramuscularly. Repeat dosage in 48 hours. Indications: Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to penicillin G. Limitations: Do not use in horses intended for food purposes. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Dogs Amount: 1 milliliter per 10 to 25 pounds of body weight intramuscularly or subcutaneously. Repeat dosage in 48 hours. Indications: Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to penicillin G. Limitations: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Cattle (beef) Amount: 2 milliliters per 150 pounds of body weight intramuscularly or subcutaneously. Treatment should be limited to two doses. Repeat dosage in 48 hours. Indications: Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to penicillin G. Limitations: Not to be used in beef cattle within 30 days of slaughter. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Amount: 2 milliliters per 150 pounds of weight subcutaneously. Repeat dosage in 48 hours. Indications: Treatment of bacterial pneumonia (Streptococcus species, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus); upper respiratory infections such as rhinitis or pharyngitis (Corynebacterium pyogenes); and blackleg (Clostridium chauvoei). Limitations: Limit treatment to two doses. Not for use within 30 days of slaughter. A withdrawal period has not been established for this product in preruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal. NAS/NRC status: The Conditions of Use are NAS/NRC reviewed and found effective . Applications for these uses need not include data as specified by 514.111 of this chapter but require bioequivalency and safety information . Tolerances: Tolerances are established for residues of penicillin and the salts of penicillin in food as follows: a. In cattle: 0.05 part per million (negligible residue) in the uncooked edible tissues b. In chickens, pheasants, quail, swine, and sheep: zero in the uncooked edible tissues c. In milk or any processed food in which milk has been used: zero d. In eggs: zero e.
