Mendeleev periodic table

» Actinium. Symbol: Ac
Harmful effects: highly radioactive.
» Aluminum. Symbol: Al
No proven issues; ingestion may cause alzheimer`s disease
» Americium. Symbol: Am
Uses: a source of ionization for smoke detectors and a portable source for gamma radiography.
» Antimony. Symbol: Sb
Like arsenic, which sits directly above it in the periodic table, the toxicity of antimony and its compounds varies according to the chemical state of the element. Many of the salts are carcinogenic.
» Argon. Symbol: Ar
Argon is considered to be non toxic.
» Arsenic. Symbol: As
Arsenic is immediately dangerous to life or health at 5 mg m-3.
» Astatine. Symbol: At
Astatine is sometimes used as a radioactive tracer and in cancer treatment. Like iodine, it is known to accumulate in the thyroid gland.
» Barium. Symbol: Ba
Barium compounds that are water or acid soluble are highly poisonous. Barium powder can ignite spontaneously in air.
» Berkelium. Symbol: Bk
Characteristics: Radioactive. Berkelium has only been produced in minute amounts.
» Beryllium. Symbol: Be
Beryllium and its salts are both toxic and carcinogenic.
» Bismuth. Symbol: Bi
Bismuth is not known to be toxic.
» Bohrium. Symbol: Bh
A synthetically made radioactive element. Only a few atoms have ever been produced. Bohrium decays very rapidly through the emission of I±-particles.
» Boron. Symbol: B
Elemental boron is not known to be toxic.
» Bromine. Symbol: Br
Bromine is poisonous and causes skin burns.
» Cadmium. Symbol: Cd
Cadmium and its compounds are highly toxic.
